At the initiative of the WHO, on 12-15 December 2022, the 5th meeting of the Eastern Europe and Central Asia Section of the WHO Pharmaceutical Pricing and Reimbursement Information (PPRI) was organized in Istanbul. Employees of the Analytical Expertise Center took part in this event and represented the Republic of Azerbaijan. During the visit, a group of participants, including the Azerbaijani delegation, visited the Turkish Agency for Medicines and Medical Devices, which is the regulatory body of Turkey in the field of pharmaceuticals, in Ankara, and got acquainted with the world’s first and only Pharmaceutical Traceability System and Product Traceability System. It should be noted that the delegation consisted mainly of representatives of Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan and Azerbaijan. In addition, a broad presentation was made on the history of the regulatory body, organizational structure and activities, the price policy for medicines in the country, compensation processes, and the pharmaceutical market were discussed.
On December 14-15, our employees who took part in the meeting in Istanbul got acquainted with the report on the activities, main directions and achievements of the Eastern European and Central Asian department of the WHO Pharmaceutical Pricing and Reimbursement Information (PPRI) for 5 years, as well as a presentation reflecting their plans for the future. After that, they continued to participate in sessions on various topics related to medicine evaluation. Of great importance was the discussion of development trends and innovations in pharmaceutical policy in the countries of Eastern Europe and Central Asia, as well as the prospects for cooperation between the participating countries in this area.
