On the occasion of the official launch of the “Asian Diagnostics, Vaccines and Therapeutics Network for Combating Epidemics and Other Diseases” (“ADVaNCE”) Project with the support of the Asian Development Bank and within the framework of the 2024 World Bio Summit a seminar was held on November 11-15, 2024, in the Republic of Korea.
The Azerbaijan Republic was represented by Shahbala Yagubov, Head of the Pharmaceutical and Medical Equipment Department of the Ministry of Health and Azar Hasanov, Deputy Head of the Medicines Registration and Expertise Department of the Analytical Expertise Center of the Ministry of Health at the World Bio Summit. The representatives of national drug regulatory authorities, academic and international organizations (WHO, GAVI, PAHO, etc.) from Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Mongolia, Bangladesh, Vietnam, Thailand, Indonesia, the Philippines and other countries also attended this event.
A panel discussion was organized within the framework of the World Bio Summit on “Lessons learned, challenges and the way forward from the COVID-19 pandemic: supporting the production, joint procurement and technology transfer of vaccines, therapeutics and diagnostics; regulatory support for countries (strengthening and harmonizing regulatory capacity)”.
During the group seminar, discussions were held with the participants and their questions were answered.
The event aimed to launch the “ADVaNCE” project and subsequently to conduct visits to key biomanufacturing centers in Korea (Yonsei University, Korea Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS), Korea Vaccine Center for Assisting Safety and Technology (K-VCAST)) to improve preparedness and response to possible future pandemics by developing cooperation between national regulatory authorities, manufacturers, academic and international organizations.
