27 September is the Day of Remembrance of our heroic martyrs who lost their lives in the 44-day Patriotic War, written as a bright page in the history of Azerbaijan. This history is also the embodiment of the bravery of our soldiers and officers in the struggle for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Azerbaijan Republic, the civilians working on the rear front and the unity of our people who showed determination and solidarity.
As a sign of deep respect to our soldiers and officers, who fought heroically in the Patriotic War, waved the Azerbaijani flag on the freed from occupation our lands and sacrificed their lives for the territorial integrity of our country, to all our martyrs, by the Decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, dated December 2, 2020, on 27 September was decided to be celebrated as Memorial Day in the Republic of Azerbaijan.
On the occasion of Memorial Day, the leadership and staff of the Ministry of Health visited the Zafar Park and paid respect to memory of the martyrs.
