The biggest Russian pharmaceutical manufacturers have warned the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade that they may stop the production of a number of vital medicines, including paracetamol and ibuprofen. In addition, they stated that they may refuse to manufacture more than 50 international generic medicines included in the list of essential medicines. The reason was that the production of these drugs is unprofitable, and the depreciation of the ruble exacerbated the situation.
This is reported by “Kommersant” with reference to a copy of the appeal. They are talking about paracetamol, glucose, ibuprofen, diphenhydramine and other means.
Seven pharmaceutical companies, including Dalchimpharm (Дальхимфарм), Ozone Pharmaceuticals (Озон фармацевтика), Biosintez (Биосинтез) and Pharmstandard (Фармстандарт), warned the department about the possible termination of the production of drugs. They explain their decision by the low maximum allowable price of such drugs and the negative profitability of their production.
According to the companies, the maximum allowable price for a package of paracetamol of 20 tablets, which is produced by Biosintez, is 10.1 rubles, while the cost of production is 16.46 rubles. A package of ibuprofen of 20 tablets should not cost more than 12.05 rubles, but its production costs the company 17.21 rubles.
