From January 1 to August 31 of this year, the Pharmacovigilance Department of the Analytical Expertise Center (AEC) of the Ministry of Health received 115 notifications about side effects. The press service of AEC was told by the department that 46 of the notifications were sent to medical workers, 68 to pharmaceutical companies and only one to patients.
It should be recalled that the work carried out by the Analytical Expertise Center for online transmission of notifications (information) about side effects arising from the use of medicines and vaccines was completed at the end of last year. With the help of an online portal, patients, patient relatives and medical professionals can more easily communicate information about side effects of medicines and vaccines.
When the system was launched, it was announced that AEC continues to cooperate within the framework of the Programme for International Drug Monitoring of the WHO, and our Center is in the direction of systematic monitoring of side effects and benefit-risk ratios in order to ensure the safe use of drugs, as well as collecting, registering and evaluating information for this purpose continues to operate. The basis of the system was developed by the International Center for Drug Monitoring of the WHO, and the information you provide here will be transferred to the WHO global database of side effects.
The information provided will be monitored by the Center in order to identify side effects and make the use of the medicines as safe as possible. Citizens can get a link to transmit online notifications by using the link https://primaryreporting.who-umc.org/az or by reading the QR code by phone.
As we mentioned above, despite the fact that the system has been working for almost a year, only 115 applications have been received. In order to increase the activity of citizens, especially patients in this area, we also place an instructional video on our website to make it easier to use the online portal.
