In June 2023, WHO Simulation Workshop on Regulatory Preparedness for provision of marketing authorization of medical products with focus on vaccines, in public health emergencies was organized in Istanbul, Turkey. Our republic was represented at the seminar by Rufana Usubova, specialist of the Department of Registration-expertise of Medicines of the AEC. The simulation workshop mentioned aims to strengthen the country’s medicine (vaccine) regulatory capacity to better prepare for pandemics and other public health emergencies based on WHO strategies and guidelines.
During the workshop, WHO trainers made presentations on topics, “Regulatory Strengthening Program Review, Including Regulatory Readiness, Global Perspective, HBT Information”, “Planning for Access and Deployment of Essential Imported Medical Products During a Pandemic”, “Information on the New WHO Academy Hybrid Program”.
Also, the participants of the seminar made presentations with country presentations on the experience of combating the COVID-19 pandemic and the results obtained. In this regard, Rufana Usubova made a presentation on the experience of our country in this area. Discussions were held regarding current national regulatory preparedness for pandemic vaccines.
On the second day, a simulation workshop was held in the format of a group game “Modeling Pandemic Preparedness and Response: Bringing Everyone Together”. A round table was held on the implementation of the developed roadmap, including a group discussion, the development of a roadmap and the presentation of a draft roadmap, additional potential areas for WHO support.
The seminar was attended by representatives of relevant institutions from 11 countries (Azerbaijan, Turkey, Serbia, Kazakhstan, Moldova, Georgia, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan and Armenia). At the end of the seminar, participants were awarded certificates.
