In recent days, the media and social networks have been spreading news about the lack of iodine in pharmacies in Azerbaijan. On this occasion, the Department of Import-Export of Medicines and Medical Devices of the Analytical Expertise Center reported that the last time an application for importing iodine into the country was filed in April this year. Since then, there have been no new import requests for iodine. A new import application has now been accepted, which suggests that iodine deficiency in pharmacies will be eliminated in the near future.
It should be noted that according to the information available in the AEC, an iodine is registered in the Republic of Azerbaijan, produced mainly in Russia (Yaroslavl Pharmaceutical Plant), Ukraine (Fitofarm) and Turkmenistan (Sağlık Ezcacilıg Muessesi).
Recall that, the Ministry of Health and its institutions, including the Analytical Expertise Center, are not engaged in the supply of medicines. This activity is carried out by private companies.
