A three-day training program on Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) was held from December 17 to 19, 2025, at the production site of IODICO LLC, a local medical iodine manufacturer located in the Neftchala district.
The training was conducted by managers and highly qualified specialists from the relevant departments of the Analytical Expertise Center. These included Gamid Gurbanov, Head of the Good Manufacturing Practices Department; Chingiz Shukurov, Head of the Laboratory for Expertise and Quality Control of Medical and Pharmaceutical Products; and Shamil Aydemirov, Head of the Quality Management Department.
The main objective of the training was to ensure quality, safety, and compliance of production processes with international requirements in the production of medical iodine, as well as to improve the knowledge and practical skills of the company’s employees.
The participants were provided with detailed information on the basic principles of GMP, regulatory requirements and the proper organization of production processes as part of the training program. Specifically, the training covered production management, risk identification, and risk prevention in accordance with international regulatory documents.
The training program covered the following key topics:
∙ General principles and areas of application of Good Manufacturing Practices;
∙ Physicochemical properties of medicinal iodine and the risks that may arise during production;
∙ Documentation system, recording, and traceability of production processes;
∙ Proper organization of material and personnel flows in the design of production areas;
∙ Control of production processes and in-process control;
∙ Stability of medicinal products;
∙ Good Manufacturing Practices – areas of application;
∙ Good Manufacturing Practices – equipment;
∙ Cleaning validation: general principles and areas of application.
The training was interactive, discussing specific situations that may arise in a real production environment and providing explanations based on practical examples. İn order to evaluate the effectiveness of the training, the appropriate tests were administered to assess the participants’ knowledge before and after the training.
During the training, it was noted that local manufacturers’ compliance with Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) requirements plays a vital role in providing the population with high-quality and safe medical products. Therefore, providing methodological and institutional support to local production, as well as continuing educational and awareness-raising activities, will remain a priority.
